Danielle Johnson, DVM

Dr. Johnson grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Illinois Veterinary School in 2002. She worked in central Illinois for several years before settling in St. Croix County in 2009. In 2011, Dr. Johnson purchased Homestead Veterinary Clinic (formerly St. Croix Valley Veterinary Clinic).

Homestead Veterinary Clinic’s motto, Helping People Help Their Pets, reflects Dr. Johnson’s belief that veterinary medicine is also human service profession. People are enriched by the pets who share their lives and are the ultimate beneficiaries of happy, healthy pets. This human dimension adds another level of satisfaction to a job she already loves.

Throughout her career, Dr. Johnson has enjoyed honing her veterinary skills, especially in surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine. As a veterinary student, she was taught that the key to success is to never lose the passion for learning. She continuously works to improve her medical knowledge as well as her communication.

“When clients understand treatment options, they are able to make the best decisions for their pets. Being able to explain complex conditions in a way that pet owners understand is essential to Helping People Help Their Pets.”

Amy Campbell, Office Manager

Amy was born and raised in Baldwin, Wisconsin. She has an Associates Degree in Accounting. After living in Colorado for two years and Tennessee for one year, she moved back and lives in Baldwin with her husband, has five children, two cats and a dog. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, traveling, volleyball, bowling and reading. And, oh yeah, she loves animals!

Malissa Kubarek, CVT

Malissa graduated from Globe University in 2011 with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She lives in Baldwin with her three wonderful children, two toy poodles, and two fainting goats. Malissa enjoys working with and learning from different types of animals. Malissa recently passed her National Boards and became a Certified Veterinarian Technician.

Jen Ortner, Receptionist

Jennifer was born and raised in Southern California. She had a passion for animals from the start. She has worked her whole life with animals, from exotics at the Wildlife Waystation, to managing an upscale pet store, to working and caring for animals at LA County Animal Care and Control, to working and living at a vet hospital on the central coast.

In her late twenties she moved to the Midwest, working as a veterinary assistant in Minnesota then finally settling in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, where she resides with her husband and their kids. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horses, fishing, and bon fires with the family.

She owns her own pet sitting business, Jen’s Happy Tails In Home Pet Sitting, and started working here at Homestead Veterinary Clinic in April 2012 as a receptionist.

Angie VanRanst, VT

Angie was born and raised in Hudson, Wisconsin. She has worked in the veterinary field for over five years now and is loving it. She currently lives in Baldwin with her husband, two daughters who are in college, four dogs, and a cat. She enjoys spending time with her family and going to the movies.
